  • Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year - approximately 1.3 billion tonnes - gets lost or wasted. That is enough to feed two billion people.
  • 60 trillion gallons of water go to waste as collateral damage from food waste. That is equal to the amount of water that flows through the Volga, Europe’s largest river, every year.
  • Similarly, 1.4 billion hectares of land - 28% percent of the world's agricultural area - is used annually to produce food that is lost or wasted.
